Acne Sucks
Understand Acne a Little Better
Teens are often fighting acne as well. It's frustrating, can be embarrassing, and can really hurt people's self-confidence.
When your pores get clogged, bacteria can get trapped. It's crucial to exfoliate your skin regularly so that the skin doesn't build up over the pore. Oxygen is going to help kill that bacteria that's left on your skin.
When sebum/oil gets trapped in the pores, under the now overlapping dead skin cells, it can create a breeding ground for bacteria. Simple debris and oil can clog those pores and a pimple can be formed.
Sometimes it starts deeper, which is where cystic acne comes in. Try not to pick, as you can spread it more.
Get into the habit of washing your face thoroughly, and exfoliating at least once a week. If you have oily skin, you may want to exfoliate 2x a week.
To help clear acne, you can use products with salacylic acid or peroxide, which which will help "eat" the oil. Clay masks can help absorb excess oils if the skin is producing too much.
If you have persistent acne that seems to get much worse over time, see a dermatologist who may be able to give you prescribed solution.

Facial Cleansers
Facial Cleanser Cream, Gels and Other Products
Cleanser will help remove make-up and debris, along with the day's pollution. Choosing a great cleanser is a snap when you know what you need.
If you have dry skin, you want a hydrating and gentle cleanser so that you don't end up causing your skin to dehydrate in the process. (dry=lack of oil, dehydated=lack of water) A nice gentle facial cream cleanser with a creamy or milky consistency may work best. Some gels are very gentle also.
If you have normal skin, you want something that keeps your skin's pH properly balanced. A gentle gel cleanser is something you'll love. Cleansers don't have to foam to work, though we get it in our minds that we want to scrub and see bubbles. Men tend to prefer foaming cleansers! It's okay if you choose a foaming cleanser if you prefer, but just don't get it in your mind that it has to foam to work.
If you have oily skin, then you'll want something that helps combat that. A cleanser with salicylic acid in it, or tea tree oil may be right up your alley.
